12 Cute Cafés to Try in Montreal During Your Next Visit

Having lived in Montreal for over 15 years and in downtown for almost 5 years, I have had my fair share of cafés in the city. Whether it be to go discover a new coffee shop or to spend some time to get work or studying done, I love having a good cup of coffee. If you are visiting Montreal (or have been living here for a while) and would like some café recommendations, this article is for you! I have listed my 12 favourite coffee shops in Montreal.

I have also listed whether the cafés are budget friendly or pricey, if it is crowded, the amount of seating area, and if there are a good amount of charging plugs for if you want to get some work done. Of course, crowds depend on the day of the week and the time of the day. I tend to spend a few hours at the cafés, so I make an approximate on the average from my experience.

1. Café Camas

Café Camas is a cafe located in Griffintown, on the second floor of a small building. This cafe is small and cozy, and located close by the Lachine Canal. It’s a perfect place to get coffee if you are around the area or if you are looking for a cute study spot. More than half of the customers that came when I was there came to study, so it is a super study-friendly spot. The chairs are comfortable, the wifi is good, and there are accessible plugs.

Make sure to come early if you want to sit down and relax! We arrived at opening time and 15 minutes later, all the seats were taken. The waiting lines were long (around 20 people) after 30 minutes of opening. If you want to do some studying for free, make sure to get here at their opening time. The other workspaces are 15$/hour or 80$ for the whole day.
